by Warriors Fight Promotions
Fight fans are quickly learning that the most exciting fight nights in MN can be found every 5 weeks in Mounds View. Warriors Fight Promotions delivered another exciting night of kickboxing and muay thai in front of a packed house at the Mermaid Event Center.
The night featured 9 kickboxing, muay thai, and international rules bouts that highlighted fighters and gyms from across Minnesota and Ontario, Canada.
In the co-main events, Cellar Kickboxing's Derek Knudson (4-0/1) defeated Jamie Kottke (2-3) by unanimous decision to become the new IKF Light Heavyweight MN State Kickboxing Champion. Knudson controlled the 4-round bout by utilizing his superior reach advantage and showcasing his elite kicking skills.
In the second main event, MMA veteran Gabe Wallbridge took on Troy Hill in a professional International Rules bout. Wallbridge, who trains out of North Branch TKD and Kickboxing looked impressive in his pro kickboxing debut mixing up powerful kicks with quick boxing combinations. The crowd really got into this fight as both warriors seemed to fight harder with each shot that landed. In the end, Wallbridge got the win by TKO (referee stopage) in the third round, but our hats go off to Hill for taking the fight onl only a day's notice after Whitney Waddel pulled out last minute due to injury.
Full fight results will be posted here in a few days. Also visit www.SnapLocally.com to view fight photos and to order photos of your favorite fighter.
